Drive to Survive producer James Gay-Rees says there is no connection between the series and the deeply contentious 2021 title-deciding race at Yas Marina. Max Verstappen overtook Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to win the world championship after race director Michael Masi broke the regulations by organising a restart.

 

Some drivers at the time, such as Lando Norris, claimed Masi ignored the need to let any drivers not on the lead lap to pass by in order to ensure a racing finish to the end. “It was obviously made to be a fight,” said the McLaren driver. “It was for the TV, of course. It was for the result.”

 

However Gay-Rees disagrees. “I think [Masi] was just under a lot of pressure and got things slightly wrong,” he told The Guardian. “I don’t think he was thinking ‘What does Netflix want?’”

 

Masi has not explained how the decision was taken. An interview with him last year revealed the former race director signed a non-disclosure agreement with the FIA over the incident which led to him leaving the federation.

Soon afterwards the FIA was forced to respond to sexist comments Ben Sulayem had made 20 years before he became president, after they resurfaced in a newspaper report.

 

An FIA spokesperson told RaceFans the transfer of operational responsibilities from Ben Sulayem to Tombazis was a planned development following its announcement last month that it had completed the introduction of its new management structure for F1.

Sauber has brushed off concerns it breached Swiss advertising laws during its reveal of the 2023 car on Tuesday.

 

The Alfa Romeo-branded team has a new title sponsor this year - Stake, a Curacao-registered online casino and gambling portal.

 

The Swiss newspaper Blick reports that the actual Stake logo, however, will only be seen at "a few races" this year because of laws against gambling advertising.

 

Indeed, simply revealing the Stake-branded car on Tuesday on the Swiss broadcaster SRF may have attracted the attention of Switzerland's Federal Gaming Board (ESBK).

 

"If the ESBK becomes aware of the case and initiates an investigation, it could have criminal consequences," said Ruedi Schneider, the board's deputy head.

 

Sauber, however, is not worried.

 

"Stake confirmed to us that the company is not targeting the Swiss market with its games," the Swiss-based team said.

 

"The domain is blocked in Switzerland and further measures are being taken to prevent Swiss users from accessing the services," Sauber added.

"As a team, we always comply with all applicable local laws and FIA regulations."

 

Indeed, Sauber's plan is to replace the Stake logo with 'Kick' branding at many grands prix this year - the Stake-owned gaming livestream platform.

It will be season 5 of the popular yet divisive documentary-style series - credited on one hand for F1's surging popularity but criticised by some for stretching the line between fact and fiction.

 

World champion Verstappen, for instance, boycotted the series' production team because of the way he was portrayed in previous years.

But it appears he has had a change of heart.

 

"Drive to Survive has been very important for the popularity of F1," he is quoted by Corriere dello Sport.

 

"I understand that as world champion I have to participate in a product of this kind," the 25-year-old Dutchman added.

 

"I always said that I want to appear only as I really am. I talked about it with the managers of the series and they understood my point of view. Or I hope they did.

 

"I also understand the need to make the stories spectacular, but I'm someone who cares a lot about giving a true image of myself. I asked that this be respected."

 

The latest Drive to Survive debuts on Netflix on February 24.

F1 je Red Bulovim dilom sa Fordom striklirala rubriku americkog proizvodjaca i izbila Andretiju glavni adut iz ruke, pa nece timovi morati deliti kolac na 11 ili 12 delova vec i dalje samo na 10. Iako bi ulaskom novih timova velicina kolaca porasla i ta 1/12 bi zapravo bila veca od sadasnje 1/10...

Inace poslednji put pun grid od 26 F1 bolida vidjen je na VN Monaka 1995...

Ovo delije kao totalni zaokret u odnosu na nedavno izrecene stavove i FIA i FOM da se F1 i sport ne petljaju u politiku, e sad da li je samo verbalno zbog daljeg prcanja ben Sulajema u sukobu FIA / FOM ili je i nesto konkretnije u pitanju, uglavnom upravo je FOM a ne FIA doveo F1 u te "problematicne" zemlje (Bahrein, Kina, Saudi, Katar itd). Nismo zlatne ribice pa da smo to zaboravili.

Let’s have a team that represents this country properly. These ingredients should be a positive aspect of F1.”

Britaniju), Parneli 1974 - 1976 i Penski 1974 - 1977, svi sa bolidima sopstvene konstrukcije. Pored njih bio je i NART 1964 - 1969 ali su vozili privatne Ferarije i originalni Has 1985 - 1986 ali im je bolide konstruisala Lola, kao sto sadasnjem Hasu radi Dalara. A pre Gernija bio je Skarab 1960.

- Zimski obavezni raspust za timove poput onog letnjeg tokom kojeg nikakav rad na dizajnu, proizvodnji i pripremi bolida za narednu sezonu nece biti dozvoljen.

- Vise slobode u radio-komunikaciji izmedju vozaca i timova.

- Povecan dodatak na budzet za dodatne trke preko 21. u kalendaru sa $1.2M na $1.8M.

- Izmene u DRS zonama na prvih 5 trka sezone (za sada) - negde su dodate nove, negde skracene postojece...

Lewis Hamilton has strongly criticised Formula 1’s plan to ban the use of tyre warmers next season.

 

F1’s official tyre supplier Pirelli is due to introduce new wet weather tyres which do not require blankets at the sixth race this season. A proposal to ban teams from using blankets with all types of tyre will be put to a vote of teams later this year.

 

Some drivers have already tested Pirelli’s development tyres for next year which are designed to work without blankets. Hamilton was among them, but he is dead set against a ban on blankets, and said a crash is inevitable if it goes ahead.

 

Kako to da "najbolji vozaci na svetu" kukaju oko necega sto je za "papke" iz IndyCar vec decenijama sasvim normalna stvar bez neke velike frke i cimanja? Dva-tri kruga vozis sporije dok guma ne dodje na optimalnu temperaturu i posle sve normalno. Nikakve katastrofe se nisu desile zbog toga, pa ako njima nije problem ne bi trebalo ni za F1 vozace da bude.
