Tsitsipas:

USO 2021

Quote

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Great start by his side. In the beginning of the first set, came really strong. Ball speed was incredible. I've never seen someone hit the ball so hard. Took time to adjust. Took time to kind of develop my game around his game style.

It's one of these matches and one of these feelings where, you know, you pick up at some point of the match, you feel like you're in control, and it doesn't really go your way at the end.

It's kind of bitter, I would say, especially after such an incredible first set by my side, dominating, being just so aggressive, not dwelling on the past. It was a great first set.

I don't know. I felt like he played the fifth one completely -- the way he played the first set basically, careless, going for every single shot. I have never seen someone play such a good fifth set, honestly.

Quote

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: He dealt with it really well. I mean, that's something that's going to reach the top and make him the player that he is. It was supposed to be my match. Today was a match that I shouldn't have lost. I can only learn from it.

Quote

Q. What, if anything, surprised you about his game the most?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: His consistency. I mean, I was returning pretty deep, applying pressure on my returns. I don't know how much harder I need to hit my return in order to apply pressure.

But he felt to be dealing with it really well, comfortably, hitting winners after the first return of mine, just being so much in control, which was surprising, especially in the fifth set. I didn't expect him to raise his level so much, especially after having lost the fourth set this way. He was a completely different player. I don't know if the physio helped him or anything, but he seemed to be another player. :classic_dry:

znaci, sad je i Alcaraz postao totalno drugi igrac posle intervencije lekaara...

AO 2019 - poraz od Nadala 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 :

Quote

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Honestly, I have no idea what I can take from that match. It's not that I was even close to get to something. I only got six games from that match.

I don't know, I feel very strange. I feel happy with my performance in this tournament, but at the same time I feel disappointed. I feel like I could do a bit better today. I don't know. That's how I felt.

But it's a very, very weird feeling. Almost felt like just couldn't play better. I don't know.

Q. You look a bit dazed. Did he surprise you in any way? Have you processed it yet?
STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Yeah, he did surprise me. His serve, he's not the biggest server on tour, has a pretty average serve:classic_blink: But it's annoying that I didn't get close to break him at all.

He's just very aggressive from the baseline. That's pretty much it. I mean, I don't know. I really can't think of something positive on that match. Probably the second set, which was the one that I got closer to. The rest, it kind of felt like in a way it wasn't tennis so much like the other matches that I played. It felt like a different dimension of tennis completely.

He gives you no rhythm. He plays just a different game style than the rest of the players. DOBRO JUTRO, KOLUMBO!!! He has this, I don't know, talent that no other player has. I've never seen a player have this. He makes you play bad. I don't know. I would call that a talent.

Quote

The angles that he was using, my brain was used to a certain rhythm of the game with all the righty players that I played this week. Him, it felt like I was always, when he was playing, on the wrong foot. Didn't check properly. Felt very slow today. I feel pretty fast when I'm on the court. I mean, I've improved a lot in that part of my game. Today I felt like a 2-meter-10 guy that can't move on the court. That's definitely not me. I don't know.

Just felt weird. The whole match felt weird from the very beginning. My body was stiff. I wouldn't say I was serving very well. As I said before, just has a talent to make you play bad. That's it.

Quote

Q. He does something to you?
STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Yeah, his game style has something that it kind of makes the other half of your brain work more than it usually does, let's say. I don't know. I'm trying to understand, but I cannot find an explanation for that.

AO 2021, poraz od Medvedeva:

Quote

Q. Bad luck. You were both undefeated between ATP Cup and here. What made Daniil so tough to beat tonight?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: I really don't have anything to say on that. I mean, everyone saw what just happened out there. I'm the last person you should be asking this. I was just focused on my game, and he put out his show. He became Daniil Medvedev for three sets in a row.

Quote

Q. Do you have any sense of what might happen on Sunday with these two players?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: I wouldn't be surprised to see Daniil win the tournament. But, you know, it's a strange scenario. I played Rafa here two years ago. I found his performance against me that day phenomenal. I was 100% sure he was gonna win the tournament. And I ended up being wrong.

Who knows? I don't know. Like, Djokovic is playing well too. Look, I'm not a betting website. I don't know what to say. Might be Medvedev, would be good for him, good for tennis.

o Medvedevu:

Quote

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Let me tell you that he's a player who has unlocked pretty much everything in the game. It's like he's reading the game really well.

He has this amazing serve which I would describe close to John Isner's serve. And then he has amazing baseline which makes it extremely difficult. So even if you return the serve, you don't guarantee that you're going to win the point. You have to really work hard for it.

It's difficult. Obviously it's not meant to be easy, otherwise, you know, he would be stuck at the futures level and not here. So he makes it very difficult, and I'm sure all the hard work that he has been putting and the hours on the court have benefited a lot. He tricks you. You know, he plays the game really smart. It's really interesting to see that.

valjda Osakini roditelji i Osaka nece krenuti stopama ovih.
