Swank, who won Oscars for her performances in Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, and more recently starred in the Netflix limited series Away, will play Guthrie, the first woman to qualify at Indy 500, who also went on to race in the Daytona 500 as well. “This is an incredible true story about female empowerment and going after your dreams,” Swank was reported as saying by Deadline, which said she also will serve as executive producer for the project alongside production company Balcony 9’s Joel David Moore and Rishi Bajaj. “When I was approached with Janet Guthrie’s story by the great team at Balcony 9, I immediately said yes. I can’t wait to bring her inspiring life to the screen.” Guthrie, who started out in SCCA racing, made her Indy debut in 1976, qualifying for the the race from 1977-79. She raced in three Indy 500s: 1977-79, with a best finish of ninth in ’78 (pictured above). She went on to be the first woman to lead a lap in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Jedna priča kao da je tvoja... Sedimo kod kuće u Beogradu negde u proleće 1991, predveče, došla ženina koleginica na kafu, meni dosadno, kažem idem ja napolje. Pita žena gde ćeš. Ja kažem, idem da kupim auto. Žena kaže, dobro onda, ajzdrao, okrene se i pije kafu i ćaska sa koleginicom. Ova koleginica gleda, kakvi su ovo ludaci, kao da sam rekao idem da kupim pivo. Preporučujem Red Bull Grandstand, nedelja mislim oko 160 ojrića. Bolje nego Grandstand Center, uostalom, ta je cela narandžasta, samo Holandjani, Maxovi navijači. Na RBR Grandstand sam bio mislim u sektoru J, u drugom ili trećem redu, mesto odvaljuje. Ja sam hteo ove godine, nego mi uzeše dušmani dozvolu na godinu dana, pa nemam kako ni sa kim.... Idem tamo i nazad u nedelju, treba mi iz Praga oko 4 - 4,5 sata, nedeljni program je skroz top, budem na tribini oko 10-11h, posle trke kući. Prilaz je odlično organizovan, na autoputu A9 od Linza već imaš znakove GP von Österreich, parkiranje je na livadama kod piste, besplatno, na odlasku se čeka malo duže, max 1 sat da odeš sa parkinga, ali čim izadješ na put, sve funkcioniše besprekorno. Ako imaš vremena idi dan ranije i prenoći u Grazu ili Leobenu, možda uhvatiš i kvale i F2 u subotu + u Grazu ima šta da se vidi.
