McLaren have revealed their new Formula 1 car, which will contest the 2023 season, is to be called the MCL60.

The name, which marks a departure from the team’s recent nomenclature, makes reference to the 60th anniversary of the team, which was founded by Bruce McLaren in 1963.

Poceli smo i mi s ovim ferarijevskim fazonima sa specijalnim imenima bolida... :classic_rolleyes:

Former McLaren driver Stoffel Vandoorne could drive for his former team again after being confirmed as an additional reserve driver for the upcoming season.

Vandoorne’s fellow Aston Martin reserve driver, Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich, will also be available for McLaren to call on should they need to.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella says that the delays the team suffered on Thursday were to avoid potential failures from occurring.

The team had the lowest mileage over the opening day of testing than any other team, covering fewer than 100 laps. However Stella, who has recently taken over as team principal of McLaren, said their day had gone “largely to plan”.

“Despite a few very minor issues, which are common at testing, we’ve got a lot of information and were able to complete a lot of test items,” Stella said.

“There were some short delays caused by the team wanting to reinforce the bodywork in some places in order to prevent a failure. These were preventative measures, but we thought they were useful to make so we could run safely and reliably for the remainder of the day. Overall, a positive day. We hope to continue like this for day two and three so we’re ready for the first race of the season.”

Dobro nam krenulo, opet...

McLaren suffered a frustrating start to the season in Bahrain with no points after a difficult pre-season testing. The team are working on major upgrades to their factory facilities, including a new simulator and wind tunnel, which Stella says is in the process of calibration.

“We are hopeful to have the car in the wind tunnel – which should be at that stage the new car – in June,” Stella said.

“Once the tunnel is going through this calibration process, and we have done this coordination exercise with the same model in the two wind tunnels, I would hope that in the space of a couple of weeks, we are ready to go for development. Like I say, the plan is to have development starting in June.”

As for Norris, CEO Brown says there will be no early escape.

"There are no early termination options in Lando's contract," he said in Melbourne. "At all."

Early last year, Norris signed a long-term contract that will keep him in an orange car until the end of 2025.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has no concerns about introducing an upgrade during a sprint weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix but warns it won’t be a game changer.

McLaren will bring the first major update to its 2023 car to Baku, after admitting it was unhappy with the launch specification of the MCL60. However, that weekend will feature just one free practice session before qualifying on Friday evening — regardless of whether the format changes — with cars in parc ferme conditions and therefore any upgrade needing to work immediately, but Stella is confident there is no risk involved.
