Pitanje je koliko je ovo indikativno o performansama za trku jer em sto je staza izuzetno "zelena" nakon kise ceo dan em sto se vozi nocu a trka je popodne po najvecoj vrucini... Kvalifikacije su u toku. Bilo je jos jedno odlaganje zbog prolivenog ulja na pitlajnu. Inace opet zahladjenje medjuljudskih odnosa u Penskiju - Pauer za svoj udes sa Eriksonom optuzio "glupandera" Mekloklina koji je pogresio ispred njega i poremetio mu koncentraciju. McLaughlin was the only driver to run a 183mph lap of the 1.25-mile World Wide Technology Raceway in this morning’s qualifying session and produced an average of 182.951mph. As if the session hadn’t been delayed enough — by almost a full day due to the torrential conditions in Madison, Illinois on Saturday — there was a further hold-up to clean the track after a couple of USAC cars spewed fluids on the asphalt. Sada je razlika izmedju Palua i Diksona 74 boda sa 108 mogucih u igri na zadnje dve trke. Pato opet drugi. Malukas ponovio podijum od prosle godine. Samo njih dvojica u istom krugu sa Diksonom. Pagenaud continues to seek clearance to drive from IndyCar’s medical team, but it has not been granted. In his place, MSR’s IMSA champion Tom Blomqvist, who will step up to IndyCar next year in a full-time role in the No. 06 MSR Honda, will pilot the No. 60 at Portland International Raceway and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. It will mark Blomqvist’s second and third appearances in the No. 60 after standing in for Pagenaud at Toronto in July. The news is unfortunate for Pagenaud, whose contract with MSR is up at the end of the season and will be unable to race before entering free agency. Rezultat na Gejtveju maksimalno ide na ruku Skotu Diksonu u pokusaju da preotme titulu timskom kolegi Aleksu Paluu ali mladi Spanac je i dalje prvi favorit i na dobrom je putu da overi zvanje sampiona vec u Portlandu. Ustvari, tacnije receno na mestu nekadasnjeg Vanporta, gradica koji je zbrisan sa mape u katastrofalnoj poplavi 1948. godine. Staza otvorena 1961. godine delom prati ulice ovog grada duhova a zbog ovakve svoje istorije ima pomalo neobican karakter za jedan autodrom - naime, ravna je k'o dlan, visinska razlika je je tacno 0 metara. Staza u konfiguraciji za Indikar ina 12 krivina s duzinom kruga 3166m a vozi se na 110 krugova. Staza je veoma brza pa se krug okrene za oko 1 minut a posebnu "draz" daje joj sikana na kraju start-cilj pravca koja garantuje cirkus nakon svakog starta i restartta. Indikar pod sankcijom CART ovde je prvi put gostovao 1984. i nastavio svake godine do 2007. i ujedinjenja sa IRL. Vracena je na kalendar 2018. i uz preskocenu COVID sezonu 2020. tu je do danas. Medju danas aktivnim vozacima niko nije pobedjivao vise od jedanput a pobedu od prosle godine brani Skot Mekloklin. Ukupno gledano najuspesniji medju vozacima je Majkl Andreti sa 3 pobede a medju timovima Njumen/Has sa 8.
