Kazu 480 zrtava medju demonstrantima. DW ekspert za Iran Daniel Gerlach, a Middle East expert and the editor-in-chief of Zenith magazine, said that while the protests in Iran are raging, the country's opposition is anything but organized. "The Iranianregime has made sure such opposition would never exist," he told DW News. Those seeking the return of the Shah — who was ousted by Ayatollah Khomeini in the 1979 Islamic revolution — might be vocal and well-organized, but they remain a minority, Gerlach said. "Very rarely have people inside Iran said it would be a good idea to reestablish the monarchy," he added. Regarding the Iranian regime's current situation, Gerlach says the situation is far from looking like it is going to collapse. According to the journalist, the Islamic Republic's five pillars — the intelligence service, the Revolutionary Guard, the clerics, the judiciary — all seem to be intact rather than weakening or defecting to the protesters' side.

bbc In a televised speech, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has ultimate power in Iran, dismisses protesters as "a bunch of vandals" trying to "please" US President Donald Trump. The BBC and most other international news organisations are barred from reporting inside Iran, so social media is relied upon to verify what is happening on the ground.

  4. cnn Russia attacked Ukraine with a hypersonic Oreshnik missile overnight Thursday, a rare use of one of its most advanced weapons during the latest onslaught targeting the country amid freezing temperatures. Several explosions and a ballistic missile strike on a critical infrastructure facility were reported by authorities in the western city of Lviv. In Kyiv a CNN reporter said that the attack began around midnight, starting with multiple drone strikes on residential buildings. Streetlights flickered before large parts of the city were plunged into darkness, as a thick fog settled over the streets and temperatures plummeted to –5 degrees Celsius. Four people were killed and 10 others wounded in the attack, according to the city’s mayor Vitali Klitschko, who said “critical infrastructure” had also been damaged.

cnn At least 45 protesters, including eight children under the age of 18, have been killed in the first 12 days of ongoing nationwide protests in Iran, the Norway-based Iran Human Rights NGO (IHRNGO) reported Thursday. It said hundreds more have been injured and over 2,000 people detained since demonstrations began on December 28, 2025. Iranian provinces as far west as Ilam, a Kurdish-majority region bordering Iraq, and Lorestan, have emerged as restive hot spots. Fueled by ethnic division and poverty, crowds set fires in the streets and chanted “Death to Khamenei,” directly challenging Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “This is the year of blood,” they chant, “Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) is going to fall.”
  6. Uz obilatu pomoc Trumpa i Putina, nisam bas siguran da ce Orban izaci kao porazen. Mozda ce morati u neku 'neprincipijelnu koaliciju', ali poraz i odlazak u opoziciju - bas tesko. Bas jak udarac EU direktno u stomak.
  7. Evo jos jednog normalnog Republikance cnn GOP Sen. Thom Tillis had strong criticism for Stephen Miller Wednesday, going as far as to suggest the senior White House adviser’s job should be at risk for his recent comments on US control of Greenland. “Look either Stephen Miller needs to get into a lane where he knows what he’s talking about or get out of this job.” The comments from retiring North Carolina senator mark some of the strongest yet from a Republican lawmaker following the White House deputy chief of staff’s assertion that the US has the right to take Greenland. Tillis, who has served as the top Republican on the bipartisan Senate NATO Observer Group since 2018, cautioned that Miller’s posturing has significant political implications. Calling the NATO alliance “critically important,” he told that “shaking that alliance sends a signal to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin that he’s winning.” “And I know, whether they say it out loud or not, most of my colleagues agree with me.” Pressed on why more Republicans aren’t speaking out, Tillis said, “Well in this case it’s pretty straightforward. That’s my role as the Republican leader of the Senate NATO Observer Group.” “It’s very important for the NATO alliance to know that we have their back because they’ve had ours.” “We need to make it very clear that our strength and our ability to project power to stand off against Putin, to stand off Russia, to stand off China, Iran, it all rests on this exquisite capability that we have under NATO,” he said. The remarks came just hours after Tillis delivered a searing speech on the Senate floor. “I’m sick of stupid,” a fiery Tillis declared in the Senate. “I want good advice for this president, because I want this president to have a good legacy. And this nonsense on what’s going on with Greenland is a distraction from the good work he’s doing, and the amateurs who said it was a good idea should lose their jobs.” On Monday, Miller asserted during an interview with Tapper that the formal position of the Trump administration is that “Greenland should be part of the United States.”
  9. cnn Republican Rep. Don Bacon, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, has urged the administration to “stop the stupid ‘we want Greenland BS’” and called on other Republicans to “universally oppose” any military action toward Greenland. “This is appalling. Greenland is a NATO ally. We have a base on Greenland. We could put four or five bases on Greenland; they wouldn’t mind that,” Bacon told CNN’s Tapper on “The Lead” on Tuesday. Referring to Denmark, Bacon added, “They are a proven ally, so the way we are treating them is really demeaning, and it has no upside.”

  11. cnn Sen. Ruben Gallego said that he is introducing a resolution to prevent the US from invading Greenland. “WAKE UP. Trump is telling us exactly what he wants to do. We must stop him before he invades another country on a whim,” Gallego said in a post on X,. “I’m introducing a resolution to block Trump from invading Greenland. No more forever wars.”

  22. Izgleda da je ipak bilo zrtava u akciji i to samo Kubanaca cnn The attack on Venezuela appears to have already come at a heavy cost for Cuba, as President Donald Trump told the New York Post on Saturday, “You know, many Cubans lost their lives last night. … They were protecting Maduro. That was not a good move.” The Cuban government, in a post on Facebook on Sunday, said 32 of its citizens were killed during the operation “in combat actions, performing missions on behalf of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, at the request of counterparts of the South American country.” The government declared two days of mourning. It would appear to be the first time in decades the former Cold War-era foes engaged in combat. And it seems to confirm what has long been suspected: Maduro’s inner circle of bodyguards were Cuban. Now, Maduro’s capture puts at risk a decadeslong alliance that saved Cuba from total economic ruin following the collapse of its former economic patron, the Soviet Union. For years, first Chavez and then Maduro sent billions of dollars’ worth of oil to prop up the Cuban government in exchange for a seemingly never-ending stream of Cuban intelligence and economic advisers and health care professionals.
