The No. 50 Ferrari 499P will be driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, the number 50, chosen to mark the years that have passed by since Ferrari last raced in the top class of the endurance world championship.

The sister No. 51 car will see Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi make up the crew – the number 51, one of the most successful in Ferrari history.

Kevin Magnussen may be forced to withdraw from the Rolex 24 at Daytona after being scheduled for unexpected hand surgery next week.

The Dane is currently entered to drive the MDK Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R alongside father Jan, Mark Kvamme and Trenton Estep, but now needs to undergo surgery with enough recovery time to avoid impacting his Formula 1 duties with Haas.

Will Power’s long-awaited Rolex 24 At Daytona debut will have to wait another year as the defending NTT IndyCar Series champion has been forced to withdraw from the event to care for his wife Liz.

“Liz has had a couple of complications after surgery this week and has a long recovery ahead of her,” Power said. “Obviously her health is my priority and unfortunately that means I have had to put Daytona on hold.”

Power was due to share the No. 75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with countryman and team owner Kenny Habul, Fabian Schiller, and Axcil Jeffries. The Australian will be replaced by GT veteran Luca Stoltz.

n a “systems check” practice just prior to the beginning of qualifying for the 61st Rolex 24 at Daytona, Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsports 963 turned the fastest GTP time of the weekend, a 1m34.926s. When it came to what turned out to be a quite dramatic qualifying session, however, Tom Blomqvist and Meyer Shank Racing did what they have done all weekend, setting the fast lap of the session and claiming a historic first pole for the new era of Grand Touring Prototype in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. His 1m34.031s lap in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06, an average of 136.295mph around the 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway road course, was 0.003s quicker than last year’s DPi pole, dispelling the idea that the GTP cars would be significantly slower – at Daytona anyway.

And obviously, LeMans is one of the big ones. And so, down the road, we definitely want to be there.”

Lucas Auer, driver of the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, has been admitted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach after sustaining lumbar fractures in an accident on Thursday near the end of the first official IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session of the 61st Rolex 24 At Daytona.

According to the team, Auer has been awake and alert since the incident and has been communicating with family back home in Europe and his Winward Racing teammates in Daytona Beach.

The Winward Mercedes-AMG qualified on the GTD pole last week in the hands of Philip Ellis. Members of the team have flown back to the team’s base near Houston and are working to get a replacement tub to Daytona in time to assemble it and make the race.
