In a statement Monday morning, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing announced that Juri Vips was testing at Barber Motorsports Park in place of Harvey.

D&R je tim koji se nekad takmicio regularno na svim trkama u sezoni ali su zbog finansijskih nevolja smanjili ucesce na prakticno samo Indi 500 uz ponekad jos poneki izlet na stazu. Uprkos tome, radi se o ozbiljnom timu sa dobro pripremljenim bolidima, nije u pitanju nikakva partizanija niti zavise od nekog od velikih timova za tehnicku pomoc, stoje na svoje dve noge i sve sami rade.

A Hanter-Rej je donedavno bio u Andreti Autosportu odakle je skrajnut u IMSA program sportskih prototipova. Trenutno tamo vozi za Ganasi a u Indikaru dublira kao njihov rezervni vozac...

Harvey was involved in a multi-car crash midway through the season-opening round at St. Petersburg suffering undisclosed injuries. He planned to take part in a private test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama earlier this week, but was denied clearance by IndyCar’s medical staff. Following further evaluation, Harvey has now been cleared by IndyCar to race in Texas on April 2nd.

 

“We would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care the IndyCar medical team and safety team has given to Jack, both onsite in St. Petersburg and in the time since then,” the team said in a statement.

Tony Cotman, whose NZ Consulting firm designs circuits and offers guidance to the series, was also among the delegates from IndyCar to make the trip.

 

Hosted by Ricardo Juncos and local government and track officials, the road course has held major international events in the past with MotoGP and the FIA World Touring Car Championship making stops at the Argentinian track in the last decade.

Prvi oval sezone vozice se na Teksasu ovog vikenda. Za trku je prijavljeno 28 bolida, 27 koji su startovali proslu trku (s tim da ce u Ganasi #11 umesto Markusa Armstronga biti Takuma Sato), plus gazda Ed Karpenter u sopstvenom #33 bolidu s kojim ce da izlazi samo na ovale.

Sa nagibom u krivinama od 24 stepena Teksas je najekstremnija staza na kalendaru sampionata i tu smo cesto vidjali neizvesne trke koje su se zavrsavale foto finisima. Nazalost, od pre par godina na zahtev NASCAR na stazu se nanosi smesa koja bi trebala da poboljsa prianjanje bolida dok voze sa spoljne strane kroz krivine, i dok to radi posao sa gumama koje se koriste u njihovim sampionatima za Indi bolide je ovaj deo postao klizav poput leda. Trke su se zbog toga pretvorile u vozice gde je preticanje moguce samo na pravcima i to ako imas novije gume od onog koga pretices pa izadjes iz krivine sa mnogo vecom brzinom od njega.

Pokusano je nekoliko metoda za skidanje ovog sa staze, uglavnom bez nekog bitnog uspeha, ali ipak prosle godine je ucinjen odredjen napredak pa ce se i ovaj put raditi u istom pravcu.

 

Pobedu od prosle godine brani Dzozef Njugarden, nakon spektakularnog preticanja u poslednjoj krivini poslednjeg kruga trke.

Najvise pobeda u konkurenciji timova ima Penski (10) a medju vozacima Skot Dikson (5). Rekord kruga drzi Pol Trejsi sa 22.542s (prosecna brzina 380,896 km/h) postavljen tokom treninga za nesudjenu CART trku 2021 - od trke se odustalo jer su vozaci zbog prevelikih G-sila poceli da gube svest. Sa brzinama stavljenim pod kontrolu sada su vremena otprilike 2 - 2,5s sporija / u rangu 365-370 km/h u proseku...

RACER has learned the rubbering-in session, which was tried for the first time one year ago at TMS and featured a limited number of teams and drivers who volunteered to participate, is primed to have 100-percent buy-in from the paddock. The full 28-car grid has opted in to help apply rubber to the second lanes in Turns 1-2 and Turns 3-4 to improve passing opportunities on the big 1.5-mile oval.

 

Based on the outcome of last year’s session, which had a positive influence on passing, optimism is high for the effects that should come from Saturday’s session.

Arrow McLaren’s Felix Rosenqvist captured his second consecutive pole at Texas Motor Speedway in qualifying for the PPG 375 NTT IndyCar series race and will have plenty his teammates close by when the green flag waves on Sunday at 12:15pm ET.

 

The Swede’s two-lap average of 220.264mph edged Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who produced a 219.972mph in the No. 9 Honda. McLaren’s Alexander Rossi will line up third in the No. 7 Chevy and have another member of the Bowtie family — Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden in the No. 2 entry — alongside in fourth.

 

McLaren’s Pato O’Ward was fifth fastest in the No. 5 Chevy, giving the team a P1-3-5 qualifying performance and all three cars in a straight line as they approach the start.

If all goes according to plan, the NTT IndyCar Series will complete its 250-lap PPG 375 race today at Texas Motor Speedway before rain begins to fall.

 

With last year’s event taking two hours and nine minutes to complete and a predicted start to rainfall approximately three hours after the 11:15am Central start, the series will hopefully avoid weather-related dramas and RACER understands IndyCar will try to move the start up to something closer to 11:05 with the NBC broadcast set to begin at 11.
