  3. The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world’s trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The fundamental goal of the WTO, as set out in the organization's founding agreement, is to use trade as a means to improve people's living standards, create better jobs and promote sustainable development.
  6. Šta se dešava kad se crossover Trećeg Oka i Velike Srbije izlije u stvarnost Stranger Things stajlom: Trump fires six national security staffers after meeting with far-right activist Laura Loomer Donald Trump fired six national security council staffers after a fraught meeting in the Oval Office where the far-right activist Laura Loomer presented opposition research against a number of staffers that she said showed they were disloyal to the US president, according to two people familiar with the matter. The firings encompassed four staffers who were fired overnight, after the meeting, and two who were removed over the weekend. It created the extraordinary situation where Loomer appeared to have more influence than the national security adviser, Mike Waltz, over the NSC and undercut Waltz in having aides axed under him. Loomer brought a booklet of papers laying out the perceived disloyalty of about a dozen staffers, including Waltz’s principal deputy, Alex Wong, to the meeting, which was also attended by JD Vance, the chief of staff Susie Wiles, the commerce secretary Howard Lutnick and Waltz himself. The fired officials included Brian Walsh, the senior director for intelligence who previously worked for now secretary of state Marco Rubio on the Senate intelligence committee; Thomas Boodry, the senior director for legislative affairs who previously served as Waltz’s legislative director in Congress; and Maggie Dougherty, the senior director for international organizations, the people said. While the firings appeared arbitrary, one of the people said that the White House looked through Loomer’s opposition research and verified parts of it. Ultimately, it found that one NSC official had recently criticized Trump on social media and others had ties to Republican establishment figures like the senators John McCain and Mitch McConnell, whom Trump despises. The firings did not include Wong, who has been one of Loomer’s top targets. Loomer has vilified Wong over the work of his wife, Candice, at the justice department, which involved prosecuting January 6 Capitol rioters. Loomer has also publicly suggested that Wong has sympathies with the Chinese communist party. Loomer did not immediately respond to questions sent by text about the alleged sins of the NSC officials she targeted. Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for the NSC, did not respond to a request for comment. But in the days since Waltz inadvertently added a journalist from the Atlantic to a Signal group chat, where the defense secretary Pete Hegseth shared updates about a US military strike against the Houthis in Yemen, Loomer suggested Wong and other career NSC officials were trying to sabotage Trump by causing a scandal. She baselessly claimed Wong deliberately added the Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, to the sensitive chat “as part of a foreign opp to embarrass the Trump administration on behalf of China”. (The White House’s final internal conclusion, the Guardian has reported, was that Waltz added Goldberg by mistake himself.) Loomer has been part of a group of Trump allies to disparage Waltz and his team, calling them “neocons” – short for neo-conservatives – as a pejorative term to castigate them for being too hawkish and eager to project US military power abroad, at odds with Trump’s “America first” foreign policy. The online vilification of Waltz and his team took a turn on Wednesday when Loomer appeared at the White House for the meeting. It was not immediately certain how Loomer was cleared to access the White House complex given she lacks a “hard pass” even as a reporter, a sore issue she has complained about in recent weeks. Loomer sat directly across from Trump in the Oval Office as she made her pitch to him directly to remove the people she was targeting. The New York Times reported that the Republican representative Scott Perry, who had his own concerns about staffers in the administration, was also trying to meet with Trump at the same time. The effect on Waltz was not clear. He left the White House with Trump on Marine One on Thursday, which signaled support from the president, who last week declined to fire Waltz over the Signal chat episode. Waltz has also recently shown more deference to Wiles, the chief of staff, in an effort to win her support, the people said. But Waltz’s political enemies point out that Waltz survived the Signal chat episode principally because Trump was unwilling to give the news media a victory, and not because of his confidence in Waltz. His main ally is also perceived to be the senator Lindsey Graham, as opposed to a network of allies inside Trump’s inner circle. Inače fotografija ove Loomer ilustruje wikipedia članak crazy supremacist bitch 😁 EDIT:
  9. Poglavica Moždani Udarac i ekonomija: SINGAPORE, April 7 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs has raised the odds of a U.S. recession to 45% in the next 12 months, joining other investment banks in revising their forecast as fears of a trade war grip markets after sweeping tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. Goldman raised the probably of a recession in the next 12 months from a previous estimate of 35% following a sharp tightening in financial conditions and a rise in policy uncertainty that is likely to depress capital spending by more than what Goldman had previously assumed. Several investment banks raised their recession risk forecasts last week, with J.P. Morgan putting the odds of a U.S. and global recession at 60%. Goldman had raised the probability of a U.S. recession to 35% from 20% just last month, noting economic fundamentals were not as strong as in the previous years.
  10. Sjajna fotka, što bi rekao Nick Cave u pjesmi O'Malley's Bar - it was the light, it was the angle.
  14. Još malo vijesti iz kretenistana: Five crazy Trump tariffs you wouldn’t believe DONALD TRUMP’S tariff announcement on April 2nd has drawn mockery for its spurious maths. Any bilateral trade deficit is treated as gross unfairness; the tariffs are set by taking the measure as a share of goods imported from each country, and halving it. But there are other oddities too, from the fact that the tariff rates appear to be calculated for places with an internet domain name to the fact that they are based on a single year of data. The starkest demonstration of the absurdity of the tariffs is to look at the bizarre outcomes they produce. Here is our list of the five craziest duties. Before April 2nd, Saint Pierre and Miquelon was perhaps best known as the last vestige of French territory in North America. Now it bears the dubious honour of being the recipient of the highest “Liberation Day” tariffs, of 50% (a position it shares with Lesotho). That is more than twice the rate applied to the European Union, and five times the rate on some other overseas French territories. In July, the only month in the past two years when the islands traded at all with America, they exported $3.4m in goods to Uncle Sam, while importing next to nothing. That was, in hindsight, a bad move. The volatility of trade flows affects Switzerland, too. The Trump administration appears to have used data for just one year, 2024, to capture imports and exports. At the end of the year Switzerland exported a larger than usual amount of gold to America, pushing up its trade surplus. That earned it a tariff of 32% on all of its goods. Had data for 2022 been used, its “reciprocal” rate would have been 19%. One of the reasons for Mr Trump’s obsession with tariffs is that he wants to boost domestic production instead. Botswana faces a tariff rate of 38%, because it runs a trade surplus with America that largely reflects its diamond exports. Diamond deposits are rare in America, and there are no existing commercial mines. Vanilla is similarly hard to replace. It is one of the main exports of Madagascar, which has been lumbered with a 47% tariff. Some populations will take the news better than others. The inhabitants of the Heard Island and the McDonald Islands, for instance, will shrug off their tariff rate of 10%. Four kinds of penguins and 29 species of mammals live in the Australian territory—but no humans. The minuscule amount of trade recorded with America appears to reflect mislabelling or administrative error. Some speculate that the fact the islands feature on the White House’s list at all, instead of receiving the same rate as Australia, is because they have an internet domain name (.hm), which appears to be how officials picked their targets. Meanwhile, a lucky few got off scot-free. Belarus, Cuba, Russia and North Korea did not make it on to Mr Trump’s naughty list. The White House says that is because sanctions preclude “meaningful trade” with Russia. Yet these did not stop the country exporting $3bn in goods to America in 2024, according to the Office of the US Trade Representative—about six times as much as Botswana. Russia ran a trade surplus with America of $2.5bn last year. Had the calculation applied to it, the country would have faced a tariff of about 40%.
  19. April 4 (Reuters) - Multiple Ukrainians legally in the United States under a humanitarian program received an email this week telling them their status had been revoked and they had seven days to leave the country or the "federal government will find you." A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said on Friday the email had been sent in error and that the Ukrainian parole program created after the 2022 Russian invasion of that country had not been terminated. It was not clear how many Ukrainians received the email. 🤦‍♂️
  21. Zapravo, mudre mjere čovjekolikog će izgleda dodatno poskupjeti jaja: April 3 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariffs could apply to eggs being imported to ease a supply shortage, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said on Thursday, a move that industry experts said could boost prices just as they have started to decline from record highs. Rollins said in a Fox Business interview that tariffs on egg imports were possible and negotiations with affected countries were ongoing. On Wednesday, Trump announced sweeping tariffs that have been mostly criticized by agricultural and food groups for their potential to shrink markets for farmers and raise consumer prices.
