New Williams team principal James Vowles has officially started his role at the team’s Grove factory after serving his notice period with Mercedes.

 

Vowles, former chief strategist at Mercedes, had originally been announced as the team’s new team principal in January, replacing Jost Capito, but could not join Wiliams officially until yesterday due to contractual factors with departing Mercedes.

 

“I really struggle to put into words just how much it means to me, how excited I am, and all the emotions that are bubbling inside me at the moment,” Vowles said in a video posted on social media. “I had the pleasure of meeting already a huge number within this organisation. I frankly can’t wait to meet the remainder over the next few days.

 

“In just a few days, we’ll be testing in Bahrain in earnest. It’s, for us, an opportunity to really understand where the car is and what we need to do from that baseline to move forwards.”

Napokon posle nekoliko godina solidan start F1 sezone. Mi smo i sami iznenađeni po izjavama što smo osvojili bod jer se očekivalo da smo među poslednjima, opet. To govori samo jedno, da na ovoj prvoj trci ovi što su bili gori od nas nisu znali gde je levo a gde desno, pa smo mi iskoristili priliku. Mada imam utisak da ovaj novajlija koji je došao iz Merca,  da je promenio pristup strategiji.

Nadam se da će ovaj trend da se nastavi i u sledećim trkama a očigledno je da je u ovoj sezoni cilj da se odlepimo sa začelja.

Izgleda imamo dva tipa bolida ove godine, jedan koji ide dobro na kvalifikacijama i jedan koji ide dobro na trkama (i Red Bul koji ide dobro na oba). Vilijams spada u ove druge, a cini mi se da je tu i Meklaren - obojica su pokazivala solidan tempo na mahove u trci dok se tehnicki problemi nisu umesali. Na testiranjima smo uglavnom videli samo glory run rezultate pa zbog toga iznenadjenje kad su timovi poput Hasa i Alfataurija u trci prakticno nestali.

A Sardzent je ozbiljan vozac, ko ga je pratio kroz nize serije nije iznenadjen. Imate potencijalno novog Rasela i definitivno znacajno unapredjenje u odnosu na nesrecnog Latifija.

"Spoznor" koji je neispunjavanjem obaveza ugrobario znacajan broj sportskih timova i pojedinacnih takmicara zadnjih nekoliko godina sada kontra-tuzi Vilijams i trazi odstetu???

Rokit alleges Williams gave them assurances they had produced a competitive car for the upcoming season when they agreed a title sponsorship deal for 2019. It claims its reputation was damaged when the team subsequently endured an uncompetitive season in which it finished last in the championship.
