Tuzlanska Kapija. Maj, 25., ratna 1995. godina. Večer, 20.55 sati. Stotine mladića i djevojaka prolaze, sjede, gledaju se zaljubljeno… Prasak.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre

>> ... The Srebrenica massacre, also known as the Srebrenica genocide[7] (Bosnian: Masakr u Srebrenici; Genocid u Srebrenici), was the July 1995 massacre[8] of more than 8,000[1][9] Bosniaks, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica during the Bosnian War.

The killings were perpetrated by units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of Ratko Mladić. The Scorpions, a paramilitary unit from Serbia, who had been part of the Serbian Interior Ministry until 1991, also participated in the massacre.[6][10] In April 1993 the United Nations (UN) had declared the besieged enclave of Srebrenica—in the Drina Valley of northeastern Bosnia—a "safe area" under UN protection. However, the UN failed to both demilitarise the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) within Srebrenica and force the withdrawal of the VRS surrounding Srebrenica.[11]UNPROFOR's 370[12] Dutchbat soldiers in Srebrenica did not prevent the town's capture by the VRS—nor the subsequent massacre.[13][14][15][16]

In 2004, in a unanimous ruling on the case of Prosecutor v. Krstić, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), located in The Hague, ruled that the massacre of the enclave's male inhabitants constituted genocide, a crime under international law.[17] The ruling was also upheld by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2007.[18] The forcible transfer and abuse, of between 25,000 and 30,000 Bosniak women, children and elderly which accompanied the massacre was found to constitute genocide, when accompanied with the killings and separation of the men.[19][20]

In 2005, Kofi Annan, then Secretary-General of the United Nations described the mass murder as the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War,[2]and in a message to the tenth anniversary commemoration of the massacre, he wrote that, while blame lay "first and foremost with those who planned and carried out the massacre and those who assisted and harboured them", the UN had "made serious errors of judgement, rooted in a philosophy of impartiality", describing Srebrenica as a tragedy that would haunt the history of the UN forever.[2]

In 2006, in the Bosnian Genocide case held before the International Court of Justice, Serbia and Montenegro was cleared of direct responsibility for, or complicity in, the massacre, but was found responsible for not doing enough to prevent the genocide and not prosecuting those responsible, in breach of the Genocide Convention. The Preliminary List of People Missing or Killed in Srebrenica compiled by the Bosnian Federal Commission of Missing Persons contains 8,373 names.[1] As of July 2012, 6,838 genocide victims have been identified through DNA analysis of body parts recovered from mass graves;[21] as of July 2013, 6,066 victims have been buried at the Memorial Centre of Potočari.[22]

In April 2013, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić officially apologised for the massacre, although he stopped short of calling it genocide.[23] In 2013 and 2014, the Netherlands was found liable in its own supreme court and in the Hague district court of failing in its duty to prevent more than 300 of the deaths.[24][25][26][27][28]

On 8 July 2015, Russia, at the request of the Republika Srpska and Serbia, vetoed a UN resolution condemning the Srebrenica massacre as genocide. Serbia called the resolution "anti-Serb", while European and U.S. governments affirmed that the crimes were genocide.[29][30] On 9 July 2015, both the European Parliament (EP) and the U.S. Congress adopted resolutions reaffirming the description of the crime as genocide.[31][32]

On 22 November 2017, Ratko Mladić was convicted of various crimes at the United Nations' tribunal, including genocide for his role at Srebrenica. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.[33] The judgement is currently under appeal.[34]    ... <<

Of Orahovac's pre-war 5,200 Serb inhabitants, as of 2012 only 500 remain. In late 1998, Albanian extremists killed over 60 Serbs from the Serb villages in the area. The Zočište Monastery was destroyed on 13–14 September 1999. All of Zočište's 300 Serbs that lived there in June 1999 have left the village and their property seized by Albanians. Today, only three Serbian Orthodox monks remain, at the monastery. The return of 200 Serbs to 44 renovated houses in Zočište was stopped by the local Albanians some years ago.[7] In Retimlje, Serbs' houses and lands are illegally used by Albanians, if not destroyed.

Mnogo lep grad. Na zavoju reke se vidi Dome

>> ... GODIŠNJICA
Spomen-ploča u Omarskoj pod video nadzorom

Bivši logoraši i članovi porodica ubijenih obeležavaju 27. godišnjicu zatvaranja logora Omarska.

Dolazim tek drugi put, nemam snage.

Imao sam 22 godine tada. Otac je ubijen kada sam prebačen u Trnopolje. Maltretirani smo, udarani. I sada dok hodam ovuda, sve mi prolazi kroz glavu. Samo da nam se opet ne ponovi".

Nezadovoljstvo presudama

Kosovo Serb Teenagers’ Killings Commemorated | Balkan Insight

A memorial service to commemorate Ivan Jovovic and Pantelija Dakic, the teenagers who were shot dead while they were swimming in the River Bistrica on August 13, 2003, was held at the local church in Gorazdevac on Thursday.

Families of the dead teenagers expressed bitterness that the killers have never been found.

“Panto was 13 years old, and it’s been 12 years and the criminals have not been found. And not just Panto’s killer, but the killers of 1,300 Serbs in the last war,” said Pantelija’s father Milisav Dakic.

As well as relatives and friends, representatives of the Serbian government and Kosovo Serb officials attended the service and once again urged the Pristina authorities to prosecute those responsible.

Zeljko Jovic, the deputy director of the Serbian government’s office for Kosovo, said that 12 years ago, those responsible were the ones who organised the killings and fired the gunshots. But today, he said, “the guilt lies with those who do nothing or do everything not to find and punish the executioners”.

“We will be patient and we will insist on talking [about the killings] in the coming years, we will not forget and we will insist that the justice is done,” Jovic added.

The relatives said they gave police the names of the alleged killers, but EU’s rule-of-law mission in Kosovo, EULEX, which was investigating the incident, closed the case in 2010, saying it did not have enough evidence to prosecute anyone.

The gunshots, which wounded four other youngsters, are suspected to have come from the nearby Albanian village of Zahac.

According to police, right after the shooting, about 100 houses were searched and over 75 people questioned, but despite the offer of a large reward for information, the killers were not found, and EULEX said that it had no choice but to shut down the case.

EULEX has however promised to reopen it if fresh leads emerge. BIRN did not receive an immediate response to its request for an update from the EU mission.

The killings of the teenagers were also marked in Belgrade on Thursday. An association representing families whose relatives were killed in Kosovo held a protest during which they read out a letter addressed EULEX and the UN mission in Kosovo, UNMIK, as well as to Serbian officials and institutions, asking them to make more efforts to find the killers.

“The instigators, organisers and perpetrators of this, as well as of other mass and individual crimes against Kosovo Serbs and non-Albanians, have never received well-deserved punishment,” the letter said.

“Once again we ask ourselves how is it possible that human lives, and especially children’s lives, are worth that little, or worth nothing at all,” it added.

Following the Kosovo conflict in the late 1990s, the majority of Serbs fled Gorazdevac, a Serb enclave near the town of Pec/Peja in western Kosovo.

Last month, there were a series of violent incidents in the area that left the remaining Serbs feeling uneasy.

These included two shooting incidents in Gorazdevac which saw police officers and a car with Belgrade licence plates fired upon.

There were also attempts to desecrate local monuments, including one dedicated to the teenage Serb boys who were killed in 2003 and one commemorating NATO bombing victims.

Graffiti reading “Revenge” was also daubed in Albanian on the wall of a building close to the local church and cemetery.

Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said that Serbs who returned to Kosovo after the war should be allowed to live in peace.

“We condemn every attack on the Serbian citizens of Kosovo,” Mustafa said.

Spoiler

Media had previously reported that the Serbian government office for Kosovo announced that one of its representatives would attend the event and that a memorial plaque would be unveiled at the spot where the attack happened.

But Milos Dimitrijevic, the senior Serb official in Gorazdevac, said that the idea of installing the plaque by the riverside was abandoned because the victims’ families were against it.

Hvala.
